An exhibition of paintings and ceramics by Brenda Morgan

Brenda is a multi-disciplinary artist, practicing ceramics, oil and watercolour painting, allowing the different mediums and artworks to influence each other. This body of work is created using coil and slab building techniques originating from the ancient Jomon pottery of Japan and the wassail bowls of 13th century England. The paintings are inspired by the impressionist movement of the 19th century.

This exhibition explores ideas, rituals and ceremonies in our human community. It aims to look at, and beyond ourselves as individuals acknowledging and respecting other communities in our natural world, such as bird colonies and woodland. It invites viewers to realise our symbiotic relationship with the wild and natural world, drawing on a sense of emotion within what is left of the wild and hoping to instil a desire to protect it and expand it with whatever means we have.

‘It is my deepest desire that all of us humans wake up to kindness and compassion towards ourselves and each other and the wild world whose health is in our hands.’
