“The Land of Gemini”

Is mian leis an ealaíontóir Michelle Harton a thaispeáint cé chomh hálainn is atá an domhan trí shamhlaíócht s’aici féin agus í ag brionglóideach ar shaol a ainmníodh as a réaltchomhartha féin. Spreagann an corrspléachadh draíochta a nochtar dúinn ar bhonn laethúil í: luí na gréine, lochán carraige, frithchaitheamh solais as limistéar uisce agus an fuinneamh a fheictear agus nach bhfeictear a thagann as gach ní beo. Tugann Michelle cuireadh don lucht féachana a gcuid cúraimí a fhágáil taobh istigh de na pictiúir agus faoiseamh a tharraingt ón ghluaiseacht, ó na dathanna agus ón mhéid ama a chaitear ag féachaint ar an saothar. Tá sé mar aidhm aici go n-éireoidh an lucht féachana sáite sna tírdhreacha péinteáilte a chruthaíonn sí agus go bhfágfaidh siad an taispeántas agus spionn níos éadroime orthu ná a bhí nuair a tháinig siad isteach. Tá súil aici go spreagfaidh nádúr mistiúil an tsaothair an lucht féachana chun smaoineamh ar a dtimpeallacht nádúrtha féin agus an dóigh a mbraitheann siad an-tógtha agus tuiscint againn gur feighlithe na háilleachta seo muid.
[BÉARLA]
In “The Land Of Gemini” artist Michelle Harton desires to show how beautiful the earth is through the lens of an imagined dream world named after her star sign. She is inspired by the magical glimpses we get daily, be it a sunset, a rock pool, light reflecting off a body of water and the energy seen and unseen that emanates from each living thing. Michelle invites the viewer to leave their burdens within the paintings and take relief from the movement and colours and time spent with a piece. Her aim is for the viewer to get lost in the painted landscapes she creates and leave the exhibition a little lighter than they came in. She hopes the mystical nature of the work encourages viewers to think about their own natural surroundings and how they can also feel magical while understanding that we are the caretakers of this beauty.
