Behind the Eye
An exhibition by Lucy Moyes
This exhibition explores forms and the relationship between illness, nature and the human condition.
In Lucy's recent work, she uses combinations of subtle marks contrasting with bold abstract forms, creating a distinctive visual language influenced by both her own experience and the external environment.
Lucy works intuitively, using her drawings as her starting point for making. The collection of these drawings helps Lucy visualise and navigate the various influences that feed into her printmaking.
In her work, there is an abundance of organic shapes, harsh expressive marks, subtle textures, rhythms as well as particular formations that seem both at odds and harmonious at the same time.
Lucy employs a range of printmaking techniques to achieve a desired results, however, she also embraces unintended outcomes, she uses it to adapt and integrate to her work.
Lucy is a local artist who studied and graduated in Fine Art Printmaking at the Ulster University. Since then Lucy has joined Belfast Print Workshop and is an artist at Conway Mill. She is an award-winning artist and has been exhibited in countries including Greece, China and Japan and has been part of both public and private collections.
