Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich would like to say a huge thank you to all participants in our Short Story Competition. Our judges have thoroughly enjoyed reading through your stories. The large number of participants and the fantastic short stories we received was hugely uplifting and the quality of the stories was inspirational. Here is what our judges had to say:
“I thoroughly enjoyed reading all the stories sent in to us. Full of energetic action, fantastic characters, warm sentiments and vivid imagination, they lifted my heart in this time of lockdown. I applaud you, young writers!”
“Well done to all who submitted stories to this competition. The stories were a fantastic insight filled with fantastic imagination and significant understanding contained within each and every story. It is a pity that there is not a prize for all of you but I look forward to seeing your stories in print for more people to enjoy. Please, keep writing! You all have the gift of writing and this is but the start.”
An tOllamh Fionntán de Brún:
“The stories we received were big in imagination and fantastic in thoughts. They were very uplifting and gave us a fantastic insight into the vast community spirit amongst this generation’s young people. May you all continue writing.”
Gráinne Ní Ghilín:
“All the stories wonderfully demonstrated the importance of friends, coming together and community co-operation especially during the hard times. A heartfelt congratulations to all the winners and young writers who took part in the competition.”
We can’t award prizes for all entries due to the high volume of stories we received but we are endeavouring to pull together a publication where all stories will feature and please let us know if you do not wish your story to be included.
We are delighted to announce the competition winners and if you are on the list, please get in touch on the below details:
Category 6 – 10 years: email@example.com

Thank you to all participants, we hope you enjoyed the competition and well done to all children and young people who submitted stories.
Thank you and stay safe.
