Word from the Director

‘From the most sorrowful hearts comes the most beautiful music’ or so the proverb goes, and even though we are all, undoubtedly, living through a very testing time the explosion of creativity and solidarity we have witnessed across the community offers us great hope and comfort. Here in Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, even though our doors remain closed, we are determined that you can still have access to the very best of music, culture and art that this country has to offer.

As we are confined to our homes, this is a fantastic opportunity to begin your journey or brush up on your Irish and we have classes available online to meet the needs of every learner. This programme is packed full of activities geared towards families and young people; from amazing stories with Myra Zepf and An tSnatháid Mhór, online art activities and our music school. We will also provide concerts to coincide with the celtic festival, beginning with Bealtaine. It doesn’t matter what age you are or interest you have, we have attempted to provide some relief and entertainment. Even though we may be apart, we can celebrate the growth, fertility and nature of Bealtaine.

It is important to us, at this difficult time, to support our musicians and artists and to provide them with a platform to share their talent with the world; we are all entitled to some enjoyment during this crisis. Our role is to provide that platform, to support the community and to show solidarity to our artists and musicians.

This programme only provides a glimpse of the wide-variety of events we’re organising during this time. Please follow our social media platforms for the most up-to-date info on all of our events. Enjoy the programme and stay safe!
