It is with great pleasure that Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich presents our Samhain Programme with a plethora of new events and programmes for all as we transition from Summer to Autumn signaling the arrival of the dark nights as we approach Samhain.

There will be a new term of Irish classes catering to all levels along with a new tin whistle course. We are looking forward to the beautiful new project for children, Play Me a Story, with author Myra Zepf and the Ulster Orchestra. Bàrd, File, Bardd encompasses a fantastic poetry presentation looking at mother tongues with poets, Ciara Ní É, national poet of Wales Ifor ap Glyn and Scotland’s Pàdraig Mac Aoidh which will be broadcast on our YouTube and Facebook channels as part of Culture Night, Friday the 18th September at 8:30pm.

We are delighted to kick off the 30 year celebration of Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiach with an inaugural heritage event, a special art exhibition, Cultúrlann Collection, which will launch in Dánlann Dillon at the beginning of October. Samhain will come as our fourth virtual concert celebrating the indigenous Celtic festivals, the Samhain concert will showcase the best of traditional music courtesy of Music in the Glen along with storytelling and mumming with Cleamairí Feirste as per the ancient Samhain tradition. The concert will be broadcast on Cultúrlann Facebook and YouTube channels Friday the 30th October at 8:30pm.

Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin, Director of Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich stated,

There are many harvests to reap with Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich this fómhar. Autumn

provides an opportunity to refresh and revitalise after the summer escapades and many of us feel inclined to embark on new journeys of discovery, be that learning Irish, composing poetry or going on a musical journey with the fantastic new collaborative project ‘Play me a Story!’ with Quotidian and the Ulster Orchestra. As usual, we have a packed programme filled with events for all ages to excite and inspire and we hope that you are able to embark on your own personal journey with us and even though we won’t always be under the one roof, we have and will continue to be together in spirit and soul.

Róisín McDonough, Chief Executive, Arts Council of Northern Ireland

Social media means that the wonderful creative events in Cultúrlann’s Samhain programme can now be enjoyed equally, whether you live in Belfast, Ballyshannon or the Balearics. We are now sharing our culture and creativity with wider and more diverse audiences than we would ever have dreamed of reaching. One of the positive things to have emerged during this dreadful pandemic has been the response of artists and arts organisations, who have embraced digital and online solutions to engage audiences – old and new. And the public’s appetite for the arts has never been more apparent.

This is but a taste of our events, further information on all our events, workshops and courses can be found here:
